Mount Rushmore Society Featured at the Capitol Rotunda!

Each holiday season, South Dakota communities help transform the State Capitol in Pierre into a gathering place filled with Christmas trees, lights, and decorations. Nearly 100 trees fill the historic hallways and Rotunda, with one featured as South Dakota’s official Christmas tree.
This year, the Mount Rushmore Society is honored to decorate the featured tree, joining organizations from across the state in celebrating this annual tradition. The Grand Lighting Ceremony will take place November 24 at 7 p.m. in the Capitol Rotunda.
The display reflects the creativity and care of volunteers representing communities, schools, churches, businesses, and nonprofit organizations. Through handcrafted ornaments and thoughtful decorations, each tree shares something about the South Dakotans who helped bring it to life.
We invite you to visit the Capitol this Christmas season, enjoy the trees, and celebrate a tradition that brings South Dakota communities together.
